How
to Cleaning Hunter Douglas window coverings?
Cleaning Wood
Blinds
Because wooden blinds are made from real wood, special attention is
needed when cleaning them. Do NOT clean your wooden blinds with
water. Although the wood is sealed, water or even excessive dampness
may cause discoloration of the slats. Since the surface of the slats
is smooth, dust may be easily brushed off at regular intervals using
a clean soft dust cloth or a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Clean
them as described above.
Cleaning Fabric
Blinds
Cleaning Blackout Fabric:
Regular cleaning of fabric blinds is a must since they attract more
dust. Most of the cellular shades, like the Hunter Douglas Duette
shade, are anti-static, and they require very little cleaning. A
light sweep with your vacuum cleaner brush attachment is all that is
needed to keep them dust free. For a more thorough cleaning, the
entire shade assembly may be gently wiped with a soft damp cloth
using lukewarm (not hot) water. Take special care when handling
opaque (blackout) shades to avoid creasing, and do not immerse them
in water. For tough stains, spot clean with a mild detergent. Some
shades, like the Graber Crystal Pleat have a "soft hand" fabric. Be
very careful when trying to clean these types of shades.
Cleaning Light Filtering fabrics:
Our light filtering fabrics are inherently antistatic and repel dust,
but occasional cleaning may be necessary to keep the fabrics clean and
bright. The fabric can be dusted with a soft, clean cloth, feather
duster or lightly vacuumed with a soft brush attachment. Spills and
stains can be lightly blotted with a cloth or damp sponge. More
difficult stains may require soaking in water with mild soap. For
this, remove the shades from the window and soak in warm water.
DO NOT submerge the Cordless head rail in water. When
damp, lay flat to dry or place back in window and raise tightly to
recrisp pleats. Please test any stronger cleaners on an unobtrusive
portion of the shade before using.
NOTE: DO NOT SUBMERGE THE CORDLESS
Cleaning and Care on day/night RV Shade
RV Shades should be kept In the closed or the up position when not in use,
to maintain pleat retention and minimize dirt and soil buildup. Do not store
shade in the down position, this may cause some loss of a pleat retention if
RV shade are not operate on a consistent basis.
Note: if your recreation vehicle must be in storage for an extended period
time. Store RV shade in the up position and cover your window with an
additional protection (example cut out cardboard).
RV Shade can be easily cared for by simply dusting or using a vacuum cleaner
attachment. Do not use spot remover, or household cleaner or detergent to
remove soiled spot, or as this may cause damage to fabric.

Our hand-cleaning method is the most thorough,
time-tested, non-damaging way to keep your window coverings looking
their best. We use a custom combination of detergents and solvents
for each type of window covering, soft, non-abrasive natural and
synthetic brushes, and pure, additive-free rinse water
Wood Blind Cleaning
We clean all wood blinds by
hand. We have two methods of cleaning wood blinds. The first method
is to leave the wood blinds completely assembled. We clean every
slat, top and bottom, every headrail, and wipe down all cords and
ladders. This is done with a mild solution made just for cleaning
wood. The second method is to completely dismantle the blind, clean
and oil every slat, thoroughly clean the headrails and cords and put
it all back together again.
Maintaining clean window blinds is what we always want to
achieve. Cleaning window blinds on the other hand may not be a very
inviting task since it is time consuming and may require us to do
some cleaning procedures that we do not normally do. The fact is,
most of us do not clean our window blinds, until the dusts are so
obvious that they overtake our windows. When this happens, we have
no choice but to do the labor. A large
percentage of allergies are directly related to indoor dust. We will
clean your blinds to a “like new” condition with the most effective
cleaning techniques available today! Our hand cleaning method has
proven to be the most thorough and the most damage free way of
keeping window coverings looking their best. We use custom
combinations of detergent and solvents for each type of window
covering. We also use soft non-abrasive natural & synthetic brushes
with pure, additive free rinse water.

OVERSIZE blinds have measurements
Larger than 20 square feet.
***square footage***
Square footage is determined by multiplying the width in inches
(round fractions up to the next number) by the height in inches
(again, rounding fractions up.) The sum is divided by 144 to come up
with the total square footage. This is how the fee is determined.
Calculate the cost for cleaning
oversized blinds and shades.
45”x 54”=2430”/144=16.875 (17sq/ft)
oversize blinds $0.75 per square ft
All blinds clean at customers' own
risk, not responsible for any damage that
may occur during the cleaning process water spots, color fading..
After long exposure to the sun window covering material can become
tender and cords wear out. These are considered normal wear and tear
and are not covered by manufacturers' warranties. Sometimes window
coverings are damaged in transit or handling - this is also considered
normal wear and tear. Cleaning blinds with household cleaners, (409,
Soft Scrub, Windex, Pledge, Spic-N-Span, etc.) causes damage to the
paint and the finish of your blinds. These household cleansers react
with direct & indirect sunlight to oxidize, dull and ruin the paint on
your blinds. We can't be held responsible for blinds that were
previously cleaned in this manner. A feather duster used between
cleanings is highly recommended to extend the life of your blinds!
